Wayward Irish Spirits is proud to unveil the first launch in the new Small Batch series of blends from The Liberator range of Bonded Whiskeys. The Small Batch: Double Port Finish is a blend of Malt and Grain whiskies that have been matured initially in first fill American ex-Bourbon casks. The Malt has been finished for 9-12 months in a selection of Tawny and Ruby Port casks and the Grain has been partly finished for 12 months in a range of Ruby Port casks. This is a light and elegant Whiskey with berries & pear on the nose, a rich taste with sweet notes of stone fruits & vanilla and a gentle lingering finish.
Founder Maurice O’Connell says
“We are excited to be launching this blended Whiskey that we have been working on during the lockdown. This first release of 3,000 numbered bottles from our Small Batch series has a high Malt content of 42% giving it depth and complexity while being elegant and approachable. Bottled at 45% ABV, gently cut over 5-6 weeks, natural colour and not chill filtered”.
“We are also releasing 156 hand numbered half bottles (350ml) of The Liberator Small Batch Cask Strength, bottled at 61.7% ABV, which has been really well received by the Whiskey community. This is the first from our Storehouse Special range, which are small releases of interesting Whiskeys from our Bonded Storehouse, whether Cask Strengths versions or test releases of possible Whiskey expressions.”
“With pubs and bars closed, it’s been difficult for people to taste our Whiskeys and get to know them, so we are releasing miniature bottles of both the Malt in Tawny Port and the Small Batch: Double Port Finish.”
3,000 numbered bottles of The Liberator Irish Whiskey Small Batch: Double Port Finish are available from leading specialist suppliers including www.irishmalts.com, Celtic Whiskey Shop and James Fox in Dublin, Fine Wines in Limerick and Carryout in Killarney. Suggested retail price is €49.
Just 156 hand numbered half bottles (350ml) of the Cask Strength are available at a suggested retail price of €55.
Barry & Fitzwilliam have taken on The Liberator for wider release in Ireland.
